Tension and anxiety at work can build up in a heartbeat.

The result:  loss of concentration, tense muscles, discomfort, and diminished productivity.  A stress management technique would be great right now.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation is a stress management technique easy utilized on the job. During the workday, when it appears that your physiological reaction is not what you intended, follow this exercise to improve your outlook and cognitive function immediately.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation was first developed by Dr. Edmund Jacobson, a Harvard Psychologist in the 1920's. Dr. Jacobson argued that muscle tension accompanied anxiety, and since we could control muscle tension, we should be able to alleviate anxiety and stress through muscle relaxation.

Dr. Bobby Holstead has been a Clinical Psychologist for over 30 years, and uses this technique regularly in his practice.  Here he offers you his approach.

Meditation: The Path to Calm

Recent research has shown that meditative techniques improve the mind's ability to concentrate during non-meditative times. Additionally, your mind actually grows more gray matter through the process of stretching through intellectual exercises. Amazing - we can develop bigger brains!

Meditative techniques begin with calming the mind. Learn how to turn off mind chatter through basic exercises.
