Your Team Symbolizes a Race Car

by Anne M.
(Albuquerque, NM)

A quick, easy ice-breaker.

Have each person in the room describe him/herself in one word or phrase. Each word should be descriptive and specific, such as resourceful, witty, strategic thinking, planning and conniving, ready for action, and so on.

Each team member writes this word on a post-it note.

Now, standing around a common board with a large sketch of a racecar, each member finds what part of that racecar relates to their characteristic. For example, the resourceful person may be the fuel tank. The witty one may be something fun hanging from the rear view mirror.

When all parts are on the car, you have a complete team. Take some time to analyze the team strengths.

Too many in one area of the car? What about areas that are missing? Hmm - may need to discuss needed roles & responsibilities in that area.
